Family Search
This is the old Family Search site, which has been updated to include all of the records that are currently being indexed by the church, such as census and state records. It also contains a current Social Security Death Index listing. I use this Death Index often, especially when trying to establish a death date. Social Security laws were first passed by Congress in 1935 and Social Security numbers started to be issued in the 1937. The death dates listed by the Social Security Death Index start in about the mid1960s.
